Apologies if I am missing it, but do you have a coverage stat for this data, either in terms of population or homicide? Something like "these 260 cities represent 50% of the US population or 70% of the murder count" or whatever the case may be?
I would guess that the sample right now has about 15-20% of all murders that will occur nationwide this year, so probably 40-50% of all murders nationwide in 2024 when all is said and done.
Good report. But I don't think the GVA is an accurate measure of non fatal criminal gun violence as it includes accidental firearms injuries along with willful and malicious. I wonder where GVA gets their data?
